According to the song by the "man in black,"
he "fell into a burning ring of fire".
He's left us now but Im sure he can see,
that we as humans have fell into a pit of muck and mire.
Treading water in the thick immovable
paralizing tar of fear.
Our lungs are burning and crying for air,
not contaminated by intolerance, hate. or the smell of sulfur that seems so near.
Surrounded by atrocities we cannot comprehend,
our eyes are clenched tight.
Yet we see through the lids and
the acid tears flow no matter how hard we fight.
Our hearts have shriveled within our chests.
The blood it once pumped long shed in the muck,
absorbed by the futility of loves endless quest.
Slowly we're losing ground,
slowly we're sinking.
What are we doing?
What the hell are we thinking?
How many babies must die at their mother own hand?
How many kittens tossed from the window of a speeing car?
How many daughters must still cower waiting for daddy's "good night"?
When will it be to much, gone to far?
Each of us can help, we can make it better.
One by one we can shed the black ooze.
Reach back for the one behind us and offer our hand,
we dont have to go under, we dont have to lose.
We're in this together, like it or not.
We all have something to give, whether big or small,
it all matters . give what ever you can.
Love you fellow man, answer the call.
